The Sacrament of the Eucharist is the “source and summit” of the entire Christian life. The other sacraments, and indeed all works of the apostolate, are bound up with the Eucharist and are oriented toward it.
The Eucharist is truly the Body and Blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ, His Real Presence. The Eucharist, celebrated in the liturgy of the Mass, is also the moment when we as Christians come together to recall the great victory Christ won over sin and death, and to offer our sacrifice of praise to the Father with him. Its Sunday celebration is truly the “first day of the week”, and it is rightly given particular importance. Indeed, the celebration of the Eucharist is a foretaste right now on earth of the eternal wedding banquet we will celebrate with Our Lord in heaven, when God will be “all in all”.
