Preparation for Confirmation at Little Flower Parish
Confirmation is the sacrament that strengthens our Baptismal commitments. It is the third and final sacrament of initiation into the Church. The first Baptism is Baptism and the second is Holy Communion.
This is the point when students are “Sealed by the Holy Spirit” and take on personal responsibility for their faith journeys as Catholics.
Candidates must be Little Flower Parishioners as well as attend classes and Mass regularly.
To fully prepare for Confirmation, each Confirmation Candidate needs a thorough understanding of the basic teachings of the Catholic Faith and the sacrament of Confirmation.
- Public or private non-Catholic schools students prepare for this sacrament within Little Flower’s Religious Education program. It is a 2 year journey. The program begins with preliminary preparations in Grade 7 following the Chosen publication which continues and concludes in Grade 8. Classes are on Wednesdays during the school year from 7:30pm-8:45pm at Little Flower School.
- Private Catholic schools students need to register for the Religious Education program in 8th Grade and attend classes specifically focused on Confirmation preparation from January through mid-February and to participate in activities with their fellow Confirmandi in the Parish.
- Little Flower School students receive specific Confirmation preparation instruction at school. They do not need to register for the Religious Education program but do participate in activities with their fellow Confirmandi in the Parish.
