Marriage Guidelines

Marriage is a beautiful gift from God to the couple and to the entire Church. In fact, from the beginning of creation, God created man and woman out of love and he intended them to imitate his love in marriage.

When the Bible talks about God’s relationship with humanity, it does so more often than not through the analogy of husband and wife. Marriage was brought to fulfillment in Christ, and by their marriage, husband and wife witness to Christ’s spousal love for his Church.

From a Christian perspective, therefore, marriage is a covenant of love between a man and a woman. It is also a public institution and, from a Catholic perspective, a sacrament. It is not just a personal, private relationship between two people.

If you have discerned the vocation of marriage in your life, please contact the parish office at least six months before your planned date of marriage.
